LOS ANGELES, CA (August 17, 2020) - Producers of the Career Mingle virtual STEM conference taking place Thursday, October 1 thru Saturday, October 3, are motivated to have an impact on advancing communities of color. In addition to providing a wide array of speakers and workshops on STEM careers, the 3-day conference will host a Design Sprint hackathon that challenges participants to collaborate to develop and create prototypes for their product ideas. Interested participants are invited to attend a Career Mingle Design Sprint Lunch & Learn Thursday, August 20, at 12:30 p.m. PST. Click HERE to register.
Career Mingle Program Director Elizabeth Cotton explains the motivation for the Design Sprint hackathon. “The goal of the design sprint is to provide a collaborative platform for attendees to provide UX/UI solutions, engagement platforms, apps, websites, tools, prototypes, visualizations that will support the economic development, health & wellness, quality of living, and social equality of communities of color,” she says.
At the Design Sprint Lunch & Learn Thursday, attendees will have an opportunity to meet the Design Sprint hosts, learn more about the Design Sprints, form Design Sprint teams, and ask questions. The actual Design Sprint event in October will rollout over the three days of the conference. Day one will focus on Coalescing and Ideation. Day two will cover Refining & Designing Solution, Interface and Wireframing. Day three will entail Testing and Presentation. After the final presentations, a panel of judges will select winners based on their user interface, design and solution/prototype for the designed outcome.
